Benefits of Shopping Small

Did you know that shopping at small businesses like ours positively impacts the community beyond just keeping us in business? We work hard to reach out through social media and postcard mailers as a way to stay current and earn your business. But many people do not realize how greatly shopping at small local businesses over the big box stores impacts the community.

Benefits of Shopping Small

  1. More Money: When you shop at small local businesses your not only supporting them, your also supporting the local economy. Some studies have found that when you choose to shop local around 60-70% of that money stays in the local economy. Whereas if you spend that same amount of Monday at a big box store only around 40-50% of that money stays in the local economy.

  2. Stay Local: Most small businesses realize the importance of staying local and shopping local, after all that is what they want you to do. So many local store owners will get their supplies and services from other local businesses when able. Thus, helping other small local businesses thrive and grow. While typically big box stores source their items and services from corporate to bring in goods and services from where ever is cheapest.

  3. People: Shopping small means you are not just another customer to us. We want to know our customers and be there for the long-term relationship. This way we are able to know what they need and want. This will enable us as a small business to ensure we are providing the best in service and goods, as well as being able to stand behind our products and service.

  4. Products: Being a small business, we always want to provide the best products no matter what. We take the time to research and test everything we sell, and we wont sell something if we wouldn’t use it ourselves. Many big box stores look at profits over product, they want to sell what they can make the most money on. While on the other hand as a small business we value and stand behind every item we sell, so we take the time to choose only the best. Which means higher end items then what you can normally find in big box stores!

  5. Wide Range of Items: Being that a small business will likely only have 1-2 owners and a small work force, we are able to pick items that are fun and different to sell. We don’t have to wait on corporate approval or find items that we know we can get 100,000 units of. Instead we search the Midwest and more looking for fun innovative items that we love and think you will love as well!

These are just some of the many ways that shopping at small local businesses positively impacts the local economy and more. We work hard to shop and support local small businesses and we just want to say thank you to everyone that has supported us as we grow! Stop by our retail center today to see what fun new exciting products we have.
